Nicholas Simopoulos, Esq., Attorney at Law
Nicholas (“Nick”) Simopoulos is a highly experienced federal and state attorney and litigator focusing his practice on civil rights, education law, employment law, and personal injury matters. Prior to starting Simopoulos Law, Nick served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General for the Virginia Attorney General’s Office and as the Manager of the Office’s General Civil Trial Unit. There, he handled many of Virginia’s complex and high-profile civil cases, passionately defended and represented the interests of Virginia and its institutions and citizens, and supervised more than two dozen of the Office’s top-notch litigation attorneys. Prior to his service for Virginia, Nick handled a broad range of civil rights cases and matters for various local governments, including the City of Richmond. Nick has been repeatedly recognized by his peers as one of Virginia Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite” in the area of civil litigation. He has also repeatedly received the Avvo Client Choice Award and was even selected by Expertise.com for inclusion in the Best Employment Lawyers in Richmond, Virginia.
In addition to his law practice, Nick enjoys teaching the future lawyers of Virginia. Since 2013, he has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at William & Mary School of Law, where he teaches Advanced Civil Pretrial Practice and Legal Writing. He previously served as Super Adjunct, assisting with the curriculum design and program oversight.
Nick obtained his undergraduate degree, with distinction, from the University of Virginia, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his law degree from George Mason University School of Law. While in law school and given his passion for writing, Nick created and served as the Editor-in-Chief of The Scrivener, which was one of only three law school literary magazines in the country. Following law school, he completed two appellate clerkships, the first for the Honorable J. Frederick Sharer in the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and the second for the Honorable Jean Harrison Clements in the Virginia Court of Appeals.
Nick brings his diverse background and experience, commitment to excellence, and desire to help to every legal matter he encounters. And over the years, Nick has successfully done so and, in the process, advised and represented hundreds of employees, students, and individuals in Virginia through their most difficult and sensitive civil rights, education law, and employment law matters. He will do no less for you. Nick understands that employers, colleges, universities, and schools wield significant power over their employees and students and his mission is to hold them accountable when they fail to do so fairly and lawfully. Do not go it alone or suffer an injury in silence. At Simopoulos Law, we make your legal rights in education and employment our mission.
